Broken Bone :(

Callie waiting at the Doctor's office. This was when I had first brought her in, I had wrapped her wrist not knowing it was her elbow all along. Dr. said a lot of times with kids this age, the pain radiates down from their elbow to their wrist, that's why she was grabbing her wrist and we thought it was her wrist that was injured. Not her elbow :(

The Incident:
We had our first real injury this past weekend :( Callie bug was playing on the couch when she rolled off, stuck her arm out to catch herself and landed right on her left arm. I saw the entire thing, as her running and playing on the couch was nothing new. She screamed and I picked her up and took her into her room where it was quiet. She kept grabbing her wrist and saying, "Owie." I gave her Tylenol and put ice on it. This happened on Saturday, around 5:00 pm.
The rest of the weekend she didn't use her left arm at all. She would occasionally grab her wrist but that was the extent of it. No bruising, sweeling, ect. I went to put her shirt on and she fussed a bit, so she went around with her arm hanging out of her sleeve :(
Monday morning, I was taking Jakobe to speech, and getting Callie in her carseat. I went to bend her arm to put it in the strap and she screamed in pain like I have never heard or ever want to hear again. I knew something wasn't right. So, I took her over to the walk in clinic that shares a parking lot with the daycare. At first, he thought it was Nurses' Elbow (elbow popped out of place) but when he tried to pull it back (which was the most painful thing for me to watch because Callie was in so much pain, screaming, kicking, sweating because it hurt her SO bad) he said he didn't hear it pop like he should have. That's when they did the X-Rays. He came back in and said her elbow was broken. I began crying. I couldn't believe my little girl had broken her arm. I felt horrible. It's been 4 days since her cast and I still feel horrible. I will never get over it. So, he wrapped her arm up and sent us on our way to Lakeview Medical Center to get her cast put on. She was pretty happy and was smiling (they gave her some pain meds). We got there, checked in, and 15 minutes later we left with a pink cast around her little arm. We then had a visit with our good friend, Luke, who owns an airbrushing store and he painted her cast with some beautiful flowers. She has been such a tough girl about the entire thing. She has to wear the cast for 4 weeks, which puts it at June 2nd. They will do X-Rays again to make sure it's heeled.
Everything is so different now that she has a broken arm and a cast. Daily routines are more complicated. She has to wear certain shirts that her arm and cast can fit through bc I can't bend her arm to put it in shirts, bath time was horrible even with a bread bag around her cast. Her cast was soaking wet.....sponge baths for a month from now on. We had to buy her new sippy cups with handles on them bc she couldn't hold her usual sippy cups. All food, toys, ect have to be placed on her right side so she can grab them. Picking her up is a challenge bc of the place of her cast in her armpit. She needs help getting up on the floor bc her one arm isn't strong enough to support her. Everything is just so different.
I still feel horrible and I will never ever get over it. It just goes to show what can happen in a split second, even when you are watching your child! I hope she knows just how sorry I am and how horrible I feel. She is so tough and is being so awesome about the entire thing!
Again, I'm so sorry Boo. Mama and Dada love you so much!
